“I can see the praise band and they look like they are into the music but it just doesn’t sound quite right.” “It sounds different from the CD.” Many churches believe all they need is a mixer, some decent microphones and some good loudspeakers and they are ready to go! People today are very sophisticated listeners whether they know it or not! CD players are ubiquitous devices in homes and cars and people from all generations are toting around iPods and other MP-3 players. People are exposed to high quality audio every day practically 24/7. So people know what sounds “right”. And if the song your praise band and worship singers are singing doesn’t sound like it did on the record, then the perception is that something is wrong with the sound. While they may not be able to pinpoint the problem, they just know it’s not quite right. Effects and dynamic processors are tools that should be included in every system. They can help to provide “production value” to the sound experience and provide the congregation with a familiar listening environment for worship. |
